God is Great! Beer is good! & People are crazy!
Most of my philosophy comes from one country and western song or another. The words above come from one of Bill Currington's hits. Trace Atkins' newest tune deals with raising his young daughter. I am facing the same challenge. His song centers around spending time on a fishing pond with his girl. Here's the keeper line from his song's chorus, "she thinks we're just fishin'." Big messages are passed along during small moments. The key is spending time, talking and most importantly listening.
Many years ago I picked up a book with an interesting title and cover. Cannibal Queen was written by Stephen Coonts an author I enjoy. The cover pictured an ancient Stearman with a bodacious picture of a naked Cannibal Queen painted on her nose. The flight from Sydney to Taipei that I was about to board would give me plenty of time to read it.
Good call! Great book!
Cannibal Queen is the nonfiction chronicle of a summer long flying odyssey made by a father, Stephen Coonts, and his teenage son, David. They flew across this country from west to east and north to south pressing the tires of the Queen's landing gear against the newly mown grass of our nation's finest backwater strips.
Stephen Coonts was good enough to make a five minute audio recording giving his thoughts on his book. Its way better than anything I could possibly write.
